In 2012, Jyotsana was gearing up for her multicountry “Big Fat Indian Wedding” to her amazing fiancé. In two months they would have three events: two ceremonies in India, one in South India (where the groom was from), one in Delhi (where she was from), and a reception in NYC (where they currently lived).
Jyostana’s discerning eye and attention to the smallest of details guided her in planning the events. She was consistently impressed with the florists, designers, and caterers as they were all able to capture her vision, yet there was a major gap, her invitation.
She had envisioned her perfect invitation, sophisticated, stylish and modern. She spent months of scouring stationary stores, websites, and wedding boutiques to no avail. Frustrated she contacted a friend who worked in the fashion industry who was able to help her bring her design to life.
The feedback from her custom invitations was enormous; all of her guests loved the unique, elegant designs. From there the idea of Zuri was born.
Using her wedding invitation as inspiration, Jyostana developed three lines:
The most popular option, the folios are a beautiful way to announce your event. The invitation is secured in a pocket, folded or gate-fold folio with your choice of embellishments. It is a truly wonderful keepsake of your guests.
Nothing alludes royalty like sending an invitation in a gorgeous box. Sturdy recycled re-engineered wood is wrapped in delicate silk, accented by ribbon, brooches, beading, or embroidery, fastened by a magnetic strip on the lid. The insert sits on a removable pad so guests can use the box as a photo frame, jewelry box or or décor.
The idea for the favor box line arose from a friend’s bridal shower. The friend was looking for perfect favor boxes to hold homemade chocolates for her upcoming bridal shower but was unimpressed with what she found. She loved Jyotsana’s invitations so Jyostana shrunk the design and developed the luxury favor line. The boxes are perfect as wedding favors, gifts for the bridal party, lovely jewelry boxes, or favors for any other event.
